Poetic Gold, My Friends

Oh my .... I just hit a goldmine: twenty-two lectures on John Milton, his Paradise Lost, and his Paradise Regained!

What a find. What's the date on that thing? I can just make it out on the bottom. I've only come across a couple of books that replace 's' with 'f' (some kind of Germanic thing?). All I know is that means they're OLD.

Wow. Tell me you found it for .50 at a yard sale? :)

Paradise Lost was originally published in 1667; this particular copy has a publishing date of 1668.

I think 'ſ' is related to 15th century Gothic print and was used to replace the what we'd call the lower case 's' when printing first emerged.
